West Hollywood Sheriff’s detectives are seeking help from the community in a strange shooting investigation.
On Friday night, August 22, at 11:00PM, West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the intersection of Gardner Street and Santa Monica Boulevard, in the city of West Hollywood, regarding “shots fired” reports. Numerous WeHo Daily readers reported hearing the gunfire.
Deputies located a vehicle with shattered glass along with two victims, who were not injured in the attack. They were later identified as residents of West Hollywood.
The victims, a male and a female, recounted that they had been driving southbound on Highland Avenue, past the Hollywood Bowl, from Universal City, when they noticed a Tan or Gold colored Chevrolet SUV with a male Hispanic driver (sole occupant) next to the victim’s vehicle passenger side. The suspect continuously looked towards the victim’s direction.
As the victims drove eastbound on Santa Monica Boulevard, they lost sight of the suspect’s SUV. As the victims continued to drive, they noticed the suspect’s SUV directly behind them, driving with the headlights off. The victims turned onto Gardner Street from Santa Monica Boulevard, when the suspect’s SUV drove next to the victim’s vehicle passenger side and fired three rounds from a shotgun. The victims were not injured from the gunfire nor from the shattered glass from the blown out rear window.
The victim’s vehicle sustained significant damage by gunfire which resulted in a blown out rear window and damage to the bed of the truck.
There is currently no further information available for release.
