Rent Stabilization Event Series Holds ‘Landlord Basics’ Session Oct 22

WEST HOLLYWOOD — Landlords in West Hollywood will learn their rights and the ins and outs of rent stabilization. On Tuesday, October 22 at 7:00 pm, the Landlord Basics session features Rent Stabilization Ordinance Building Blocks at Plummer Park Community Center, rooms 5 and 6. The session will provide landlords with a basic understanding of the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO) and landlord rights and responsibilities. Topics will include just cause and no-fault evictions, prohibition against tenant harassment, mediation, pets, service dogs, available social services for low income seniors, rental assistance, hoarding, reasonable accommodation under the Fair Housing Act, and unit transfers for mobility impaired tenants. This workshop will be followed by the Landlord Advanced workshop on Tuesday, October 29 at 7:00 pm at Plummer Park Community Center, rooms 5 and 6. This Landlord Advanced session of the Rent Stabilization and Housing Division’s Building Blocks series will cover unit re-registrations, rent increase limits, security deposits, registration fee and pass through, maintenance standards, housing services, hearing process, avoiding rent reductions and overcharges, temporary relocation, requirements for entry, emergency preparedness, Airbnb and short-term rentals.
