Man Stabs Dog to Death in Pomona

Police are on the lookout for an unidentified man in a fisherman-style hat who trespassed a residential property and stabbed a dog to death in its backyard.

The dog owner Jose Sanchez said he is distraught by the incident as he remembers his beloved Huera, and can’t think of what she possibly endured during the attack. His son recalls the surveillance footage and seeing their dog backed up against a parked car and a man with a knife. He said a few seconds later the video shows Huera slumped on the ground.

“Words can’t describe it. She was a part of the family,” Sanchez said. “To be taken away like that — very savagely — is heartbreaking.”

The man is approximately 30-35 years old, 5-foot 10-inches tall, and about 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a fisherman style hat, gray T-shirt and shorts, black socks, and sandals, according to a statement by Pomona Police Department.

Authorities say the man frequents the block where the stabbing occurred.
