West Hollywood Says ‘Oui’ to Evolving French Market Project

WEST HOLLYWOOD (Beverly Press) — In a unanimous vote on Dec. 5, the West Hollywood Planning Commission gave final approval to the French Market project.

The 69,000-square-foot commercial project is expected to include a 24-hour diner, as well as creative office space, outdoor dining, retail space, a showroom, bar and 146 subterranean parking spaces.

A new three-story structure will adjoin much of the exterior of the French Market building at 7985 Santa Monica Blvd. in a way that is “sensitive” to the French Market building, said Jennifer Alkire, current and historic preservation planning manager for West Hollywood.

WeHo’s Robertson Lane Hotel Development Includes “Birdcage” Plans

WEST HOLLYWOOD (Urbanize LA) — In 2018, the West Hollywood City Council signed off on the Robertson Lane development, a mixed-use hotel complex which would incorporate the iconic Factory nightclub.

Now, the developer behind that project is seeking permission to add an iconic feature to the property. HKS Architects According to a presentation to the West Hollywood Planning Commission’s Design Review Subcommittee, local real estate investment firm Faring has proposed to construct new restaurant space at the southwest corner of Santa Monica and Robertson Boulevards.

The project, called “The Birdcage,” would replace several small commercial buildings with a two-story, 14,302-square-foot food hall, with space for a night club and parking located on two subterranean levels.

Netflix’s EPIC Hollywood Building to Open Soon on Sunset

HOLLYWOOD (Urbanize LA) — With construction now complete, Hudson Pacific Properties is preparing to open their latest office building in Hollywood. EPIC, which has been fully leased by Netflix, is located at 5901 Sunset Boulevard.

The 13-story building features roughly 300,000 square feet of office space, structured parking, as well as 18,400 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

Gensler designed the vertically stacked tower, which features multiple terraces that provide 27,000 square feet of usable outdoor space.

La Brea Willoughby Coalition continues its fight to protect the quality of life, as well as the character and scale of the La Brea-Willoughby neighborhood in Hollywood by focusing on clarifying and enforcing all zoning laws. The coalition’s latest fight concerns the project located at 843 North La Brea Blvd. (See architectural rendering above.) The LA City’s December 17, 2019 approval of the project prompted the coalition to file its appeal on January 2, 2020.

The coalition is fully supportive of the project’s efforts to provide supportive housing for low-income or homeless Angelenos. Yet, the City is rushing to approve this project in an attempt to combat the housing crisis in Los Angeles.
