A fire broke out tonight on the roof of an historic art deco building in West Hollywood at about 10:30pm.
Flames were observed from the roof of the building, located on Flores St. between Santa Monica Blvd. and Fountain Ave., and they were starting to grow before firefighters arrived to quickly extinguish the blaze.
There were some tense moments as the Fire Department and Sheriff arrived in the area, trying to locate the incident without a specific address. Some reports of the fire came in placing it on Sweetzer, the next street over, before emergency personnel were able to locate the actual source on Flores.
Sheriff’s deputies worked to evacuate the building and control traffic while firefighters rushed to the roof to put down the flames. The blaze was extinguished in less than 10 minutes once they arrived on the roof.
