Sheriff and LAPD Corner Burglary Suspect at Motel

Published

on

West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputies found out about a burglary suspect holed up at the Alta Cienega Motel on Saturday morning and worked with the LAPD to bring him out for questioning and possible arrest.

The Weho Sheriff was involved in the case by about 9:15am, with an informant telling them that the suspect was in a room at the motel, located at 1005 North La Cienega Boulevard.

Los Angeles Police were also looking for the suspect, however they possibly had bad information on the address, looking for the motel on South La Cienega rather than North. The LAPD helicopter had thought of that as a possibility and was looking in our area when the Sheriff made contact with them and informed them of their location and that they were with the informant.

As the original crime occurred in LAPD’s area, the Sheriff let them take the lead and they provided backup and security while they made entry to bring the suspect out.

The Fire Department was on hand and may have helped force entry into the room.

By about 10AM, the suspect was in the back of an LAPD cruiser on La Cienega while they conducted their investigation.

YG Reports Over $400k in Jewelry Stolen

WEST HOLLYWOOD (TMZ) — YG claims nearly half a million dollars in bling was taken right from under his nose — and cops are on the case.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … the rapper filed a police report Monday in L.A. for grand theft, telling police over $400,000 in personal jewelry had recently been jacked from his hotel room at the London. And, by “recently,” we mean almost an entire week earlier.

We’re told YG claims sometime between 11 PM on NYE and 11 AM the next morning, a briefcase containing high-priced pieces that had been placed on top of a safe was a little lighter than usual. YG told cops he noticed the missing valuables on Jan. 1 … but for some reason, didn’t get around to making an official report until 5 days later.

No suspects have been identified in the case yet … we’re told YG noted he had people coming in and out of his room that night. Makes sense — it was a big holiday, after all.

That said, our sources say detectives will be looking into possible surveillance footage in and around the area to see if they can spot anything … in addition to their usual investigatory methods.
