West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a robbery at Santa Monica Blvd and Poinsettia at about 9:45PM tonight.

The suspect was described as a black male, about 5’10” tall, wearing a Nike running jacket and with tattoos on his face.

He was last seen running northbound on Poinsettia towards Fountain and Sunset.

Deputies thought they may have contained the suspect in an area north of crime scene and brought in a helicopter to aid in the search for a time.   Although one man was detained and was seen fleeing the area, it was later determined through a field ID by the victim that he was not a suspect in the incident.

Although deputies had the one potential suspect detained, they continued searching for other possible suspects for about 45 minutes to an hour, but to no avail.

Bodily force was used in the robbery to take a purse from a female victim.
