Our friends over at Mondette feature a new short-sale listing today located on Formosa Ave. near Beverly, just a bit outside of the City of West Hollywood but solidly in the area. And it’s interesting to keep tabs on the market for nearby real estate as well.
Mondette isn’t a fan of the tile work shown in some of the photos. We wonder, perhaps it is vintage and the owners have been trying to keep it?
The house is quite charming with a lot of other interesting details.
Koretz Won’t Back ‘Uplift Melrose’ Plan
FAIRFAX DISTRICT (Beverly Press) — Councilman Paul Koretz, 5th District, has announced he will not support the “Uplift Melrose” plan, essentially ending a proposal that would have brought more sidewalk space, pedestrian amenities, bike lanes, new lighting and landscaping to a 22-block stretch of Melrose Avenue between Fairfax and Highland avenues.
The proposal was contingent upon the city of Los Angeles receiving a $31.8 million state grant from Caltrans to fund the project. The deadline to submit a proposal for a state grant is Sept. 15, but council support was needed to move forward.
Koretz authored a letter to the community on Sept. 8 stating he had done “much soul searching” about the project but decided “to not move forward with this process.”
Koretz said his primary concern was public safety and the ability of emergency responders to access the greater Melrose area. The “Uplift Melrose” project would have reduced the street to one lane in each direction, and Koretz said he worried about the effect that would have on police and fire department responses.
“The determining factor for me is public safety. The bottleneck that the reduction of lanes would create, as well as the inability to ingress and egress at critical points along the way, are likely to greatly impede the ability of police vehicles, fire engines and ambulances to respond in appropriate time,” Koretz said in the letter. “Additionally, the significant lane reduction would impact the ability to keep Melrose […]
Cher’s Former Sierra Towers Condo Listed for $6.495 million
WEST HOLLYWOOD (Los Angeles Times) — The Sierra Towers highrise in West Hollywood has a long history when it comes to celebrities, but this particular condo may take the cake. Once home to movie mogul David Geffen, actor Vincent Gallo and pop star Cher, the residence is on the market for $6.495 million.
That’s $1.245 million more than Cher sold it for back in 2013, The Times previously reported. During her stay, the famed singer-actress decked out the home in a Balinese style that remains to this day.
Perched on the 26th and 27th floors, the unit is the only one in Sierra Towers to span two stories. In 2,300 square feet, it holds two bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms and a handful of eye-catching living […]
Kylie Jenner Buys $36.5 Million Holmby Hills Estate
LOS ANGELES (TMZ) — Kylie Jenner has just expanded her empire … because TMZ has learned she just bought a massive, new estate in one of the best areas of L.A., with a price tag of $36.5 million.
It’s an interesting move because Kylie’s become something of a land baroness in Calabasas, but this is miles away in the heart of L.A. — Holmby Hills.
The house is 15,350-square-feet and it’s billed as a resort compound. It’s a single-story, modern compound with a dedicated guardhouse. The house has a chef’s kitchen, an outdoor projection screen, home theatre, bars and game rooms, a gym and a championship-level sports court with pickleball/basketball.
The house also has 2 guest apartments, so she’s got ya, Stassi.
Kylie negotiated well … the house was listed at $45 mil.
The seller has a connection to Kylie. He also sold her land in the Palm Springs area where she’s building a home.
