WEST HOLLYWOOD (TMZ) — Masks … so hot right now, so make sure you get one that makes ya look good out there in the middle of a global pandemic.
That’s what a trendy menswear store in West Hollywood seems to be suggesting with its display of mannequin men sporting face coverings in the front window of the shop.
Check it out … all the plastic models at Klein Epstein & Parker are wearing fashionable face masks that appear to have been made out of stylish pocket squares or a similar material.
So, it begs the question … is this the next new accessory, whether it’s required where you live or not?
As we reported … cities in California, New York, Maryland and others are now requiring citizens to wear masks or face coverings out in public at essential businesses.
This might seem like another fashion fad, but fact is, until there’s a vaccine … the novel coronavirus is here to stay. That means stylish face coverings will be too.
21 Workers Test Positive for Coronavirus at Rock n Roll Ralphs
HOLLYWOOD (KTLA) — Workers rallied Friday outside a Ralphs store in Hollywood where 21 people have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The group called on the store to take more aggressive action when staff test positive for the virus, and to ramp up efforts to protect the grocery store employees, who are considered essential workers on the front lines of the pandemic.
They said they speak for thousands of workers who are afraid they aren’t getting enough protection as the virus continues to spread countywide, infecting more than 24,000 as of Friday.
The Ralphs at 7257 W. Sunset Blvd. has had an outbreak involving several workers who tested positive for the virus, according to the Los Angeles Department of Public Health, which lists businesses and […]
Amoeba Music Won’t Reopen Original Sunset Boulevard Store
HOLLYWOOD (TimeOut) — In a statement posted to its Instagram account on Monday, Amoeba announced that it would not be reopening its nearly two-decade-old flagship on Sunset Boulevard. Instead, the indie record shop will divert all of its resources to opening its new shop on Hollywood Boulevard, which they still hope to have ready in the fall.
“There are so many unknowns and uncertainties for a business like ours right now,” the statement reads. “The only way we can keep Amoeba Hollywood alive in the future is to make this difficult decision now.”
Our original story about the store’s GoFundMe campaign appears below.
It’s become a pit stop on music-lover’s tours of Hollywood, it’s hosted concerts from Patti Smith and Paul McCartney, and it’s weathered the Great Recession and the transition from CDs to MP3s to all things streaming. But with Amoeba Music’s future more uncertain now than ever, the massive independent record store is turning to its devotees for nearly half a million dollars to try to stay afloat.
In an essay on GoFundMe, Amoeba cofounders Dave Prinz and Marc Weinstein recount […]
Pottery Barn Boards Up Beverly Hills Windows on Looting Fears
BEVERLY HILLS (TMZ) — The fear is real near the ritzy Rodeo Drive in L.A. — shops are not only clearing their shelves of high-end merch … they’re also boarding up their stores, as you can see here.
Check out these shots TMZ got of the Pottery Barn in Beverly Hills — off of Beverly Dr. and Dayton Way, right near Rodeo — with construction workers putting up giants slabs of plywood and other material to completely cover their storefront windows facing the street.
It’s kinda eerie and pretty clear — it’s being done to protect the store from would-be looters crazy enough to break in. The workers told us it was a temporary measure this specific PB was taking in anticipation of bad actors. Also, because it looks like they’re going to be closed for a good long while here amid the outbreak.
Pottery Barn isn’t the only shop out in that neighborhood that seems to be worried about robberies and the like — several other luxury brand boutiques and retail stores have taken similar precautions of late as soon as city-wide and state-wide shutdown orders were placed.
Take Chanel, Prada, Balenciaga, Dior, Valentino and other designer brands along the strip … photos of their store shelves being completely empty have been floating around online for a few days now. The whole area is an essential ghost town, and after Trump’s announcement that these quarantine measures will be in place until April 30, it sounds like some businesses are getting ahead of a potential panic that could hit the streets.
Scary times, indeed.
