Lost Weho Pets Now to Visit Beverly Hills for 10 Days

As a result of concerns expressed by residents about long drives to pickup lost animals, the City of West Hollywood has contracted with the Amanda Foundation, a non-profit organization that temporarily houses lost animal companions.  The foundation will provide 10 days of housing in Beverly Hills for pets that are found stray in West Hollywood.

If your animal companion is retrieved by Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control it will now be transported locally to the Amanda Foundation, located at 351 North Foothill Road in Beverly Hills. The facility is open for animal pick-up Monday through Saturday. It has a fully equipped veterinary clinic on the premises should medical attention for an animal be necessary.

All animal companions that have not been reclaimed after a 10-day stay at the Amanda Foundation facility will then be transferred to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (spca-LA) facility, 12910 Yukon Avenue in Hawthorne. Once the animal is placed at the spca-LA Adoption Center, it will be held for a minimum of four days, after which time it will be held indefinitely pending adoption.

What? spca-LA.COM This was my experience with spcaLA.COM: I brought in a stray dog to (spca-LA) facility, 12910 Yukon Avenue in Hawthorne, we were not welcome and were told by the attendant “we don’t have any room, if I take this stray I will have to euthanize one of the dogs inside” “If you leave the dog here you have have to pay $100.00 or you will be arrested for abandonment”!!! I was very upset, I thought this was a “not-for-profit Humane organization”, it is a .COM ($100.00 charge to bring in a dog and how much to adopt?) I walked away with this little dog and found a “real” not-for-profit .ORG (a humane rescue organization) where we were welcomed and assured that this little dog was now in a safe place, I gladly gave them a donation… As an independent dog rescuer, I will never, ever again bring a dog to “spcaLA.COM”
