Shortly before 2PM, a Los Angeles Police helicopter received a LoJack signal from a stolen car near Fairfax and Wilshire, and the driver was arrested minutes later at Olympic and La Cienega.
The vehicle was a Jaguar and the driver appeared to be checking some front end damage on the vehicle when he was first spotted by the helicopter.
Apparently the driver felt he was somewhat safe from having the vehicle identified as stolen as he didn’t have any plates on it, and he was completely unaware of the LoJack device.
He soon started moving and was tracked by air while LAPD ground units came in from all directions to corner him. Some units held traffic at streets nearby to protect bystanders in case the suspect decided to run.
He was taken into custody a few minutes later in the 7-Eleven parking lot at the southwest corner of La Cienega and Olympic Blvd, apparently after a very short pursuit, as he made his way south down La Cienega from Wilshire.
