Lowell Cafe Is Now The Original Cannabis Cafe

WEST HOLLYWOOD — An historic first-of-its-kind restaurant, The Original Cannabis Cafe, formerly known as Lowell Cafe, is evolving from being associated with a corporate entity into a true home for the entire cannabis community and industry.

The Original Cannabis Cafe is focused on guest experience and its future as part of the community within the city of West Hollywood.

The cafe is paving the way as the only restaurant in America where guests can openly consume cannabis and is a welcoming environment for people from all walks of life.
“This important social and historical establishment should belong to the cannabis community and industry, not any single cannabis corporation.

By no longer being branded with a single company, our Cannabis Cafe will focus on its goal of presenting our diners with as diverse a range as possible of cannabis from small independent growers and entrepreneurs.” said Executive Chef and Partner, Andrea Drummer.

Tens of thousands of neighbors, cannabis-enthusiasts, and canna-curious patrons have dined and smoked at the Cannabis Cafe since opening October 1. The cafe continues to make headlines with global notoriety in it’s bold pursuit of the normalization of public cannabis consumption in society.

“Since we opened our guests and employees have colloquially referred to the restaurant as the Cannabis Cafe, when talking about us to their friends and on social media. We’re excited to make the name change official as we focus on the community” said Ami Gan, VP of Marketing and Communications.

West Hollywood Hosts Cannabis Wedding Expo at Andaz Hotel

WEST HOLLYWOOD — A host of brands gathered to hold the 3rd .

The unique expo was held at the Andaz Hotel near the Sunset Strip and featured cannabis-inspired takes on traditional wedding items, including bouquet art installations with cannabis themes and designer wedding dresses.

The Cannabis Wedding Expo is a curated boutique wedding event for shopping and meeting local cannabis brands and wedding service providers that can tastefully incorporate cannabis into your matrimonial celebrations.

According to Forbes “There are cannabis-infused lotions to soothe irritated skin, body balms to relieve pain and vapes that release THC microdoses for relaxing. There are also various tinctures and pills to fight migraines, anxiety and inflammation. Boasting ingredient lists with minerals and micronutrients, beeswax, royal jelly, organic avocado oil and myrrh — and encased in ultra sophisticated packaging — these cannabis products wouldn’t be out of place at a high-end spa or makeup counter. (And some of them have the price tags to prove it: The cannabis tampons are $11 each, and one pain-relief balm is $25 for 0.9 ounces.)”

A 2018 LA Magazine report mentioned “[Philip]Wolf and his fellow co-founders—Bec Koop and Madlyne Kelly—launched the Cannabis Wedding Expo in Denver, Colorado, in 2016, and hosted a follow-up event in San Francisco in 2017. Wolf’s work has included growing marijuana, opening dispensaries, and, in 2014, founding Colorado’s first public cannabis dining experience, Cultivating Spirits, which hosts cannabis pairing dinners and cannabis tours. Koop started a wedding floral design business in 2011, and in 2013 he launched the cannabis-specific bouquet company, Buds and Blossoms.”

This type of event is taking place around the country, and the county. You have to be over 21 to attend. Tickets to other Cannabis Wedding Expo events are available on eventbrite and the Expo website.

CA’s Marijuana Taxes & Regulations Keep Illegal Pot Competitive

Two years in, California’s legal marijuana industry is stuck. Should voters step in?

SACRAMENTO (Los Angeles Times) — Two years after California began licensing pot shops, the industry remains so outmatched by the black market that a state panel recently joined some legalization supporters in calling for significant changes — perhaps turning again to voters to address the problems.

In its annual draft report, the Cannabis Advisory Committee warned Gov. Gavin Newsom and California legislators that high taxes, overly burdensome regulations and local control issues posed debilitating obstacles to the legal marijuana market.

With tax revenue about a third of what was expected and with only about 800 of an anticipated 6,000 licensees open for business, the panel said, officials may need to consider “revisiting the ballot initiative process.”“Despite the state’s committed efforts to bring cannabis […]
