Lack of Shell Casings in Chasen Murder Explained

on

Questions linger in the murder of Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen, even after Beverly Hills Police held a news conference to announce that the case had been solved.  The police believe that Harold Smith was behind the murder and he killed himself as Beverly Hills Police detectives approached him in Hollywood to talk.

While the police department complains about speculation and erroneous reports in the media, they have also been tight lipped about details surrounding the case leaving people with little concrete information to discuss.  One of the primary issues that has been hard to understand was the lack of shell casings at the crime scene from the gun.

Now, the Los Angeles Times reports that, according to their law enforcement sources, the gun used in the murder was a .38 revolver, which does not eject shell casings.  Police believe the same gun was used by Smith to commit suicide.

This could close up one of the open questions on the case still lingering in the minds of the public, but many are awaiting additional details on what else the police may know but have yet to announce.  Police said at their news conference that the investigation may be about 60% to 70% complete but declined to say, aside from a preliminary match on the weapon, what information they are relying upon to convince them that Smith was indeed responsible for the murder and that he acted alone.

I think alot of people are reluctant to accept the police explanation becauase it is such a horrible senseless waste of a good human life made worse by the fact that her murder was committed by worthless street filth. (Excuse my language.) That makes it harder to swallow. If only this human disgrace had killed himself a long time ago and saved the rest of society such intolerable grief.

Nobody I’ve talked to believes the result of this investigation…and
it’s not because they just ‘want the story to be better’ — it’s because
the resolution defies logic from every angle.
