Charities Say that WeHo Pavilions Customers are Most Giving

The Pavilions at 8969 Santa Monica Blvd. has been named a top fundraising store by Easter Seals and Special Olympics during their month-long charity campaign to benefit people with disabilities in April. The West Hollywood store raised $18,454.93 during the campaign, which was the highest fundraising total in Southern California.

“The West Hollywood Pavilions consistently ranks as a top fundraising store in the April fundraiser for people with disabilities,” says Mark Whitley, president and CEO of Easter Seals Southern California. “We are very grateful to all employees and customers who participate, especially with the continuing challenges in our economy. Support from Vons and Pavilions stores is essential to ensure our services continue without interruption to give people with disabilities greater independence.”

The charitable funds from the People with Disabilities Campaign will directly benefit children and adults with disabilities at Easter Seals Southern California and their families through pre-school and after-school services, job training and employment services, autism services, assistance for people to move out of institutions and into their own home, and services that help adults learn basic daily living and social skills. Special Olympics Southern California will receive financial support for its year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

“This annual fundraiser is helping to open a whole new world of possibilities and participation for countless people with disabilities,” said Bill Shumard, president and CEO of Special Olympics Southern California. “As a company that employs thousands of people with disabilities, Vons Inc. knows the importance of allowing people to live, work, and compete on their own terms.”

“Thank you to our employees and loyal customers who made the campaign successful again this year,” says Marla Larson, West Hollywood Pavilions store manager. “We are a decades-long supporter of Easter Seals and Special Olympics and are very proud of their work to help people with disabilities gain independence.”
