Formal Charges for Clark Gable in Laser vs Helicopter

The grandson of actor Clark Gable was charged today with pointing a laser at an occupied aircraft, the District Attorney’s office announced. Clark James Gable, 22 (dob 9-20-88), is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center, Department 30. He was charged in case BA 388055 with three felony counts of discharge of a laser at an aircraft. Gable was a passenger in a car traveling down La Brea Avenue when he allegedly pointed a green laser at an LAPD helicopter that was flying above an event on Hollywood Boulevard. The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on July 28.

Prince Erects Sunset Strip Billboard for Zsa Zsa

(TMZ) – Prince Frederic von Anhalt bought Zsa Zsa Gabor the biggest anniversary card he could find — in the form of a giant billboard overlooking Sunset Blvd. The Prince tells TMZ he forked over $68,000 to erect the 44-foot billboard for one month in the heart of Hollywood. Of course, Zsa Zsa is bedridden and can’t actually see it … but it’s the thought that counts. The couple will be celebrating their 25th anniversary on August 14 with a private party at their home.

Flowbee and Haircut World Record Holder to Square Off

Via CraigsList we hear of what sounds like a fun event… Bolt Barbers Monkey House on Melrose is having a challenge between a world record holder for fastest hair cutting and the infamous Flowbee hair cutting device. The three-time Guinness Book World Record holder, Ivan Zoot, won titles for the fastest haircut (55 seconds), most haircuts in an hour (34) and most haircuts in a 24 hour marathon (340). Bolt Barbers is said to be offering up FREE (professional) haircuts during the challenge on Friday, July 8th from 9AM until Noon. They are located at 8209 Melrose Avenue.

Supporters of WikiLeaks Soldier to March in Pride Parade

Supporters of Bradley Manning, the Army soldier suspected of having passed restricted material to the website WikiLeaks, are planning to participate in the LA PRIDE parade in West Hollywood on June 12th. Manning was arrested in May 2010 in Iraq and charged in July that year with transferring classified data onto his personal computer, and communicating national defense information to an unauthorized source. An additional 22 charges were preferred in March 2011, including “aiding the enemy,” a capital offense, though prosecutors said they would not seek the death penalty. He currently awaits a hearing to decide whether he will face a court martial. In April 2010, WikiLeaks published gunsight footage from a Baghdad airstrike in which Iraqi journalists were among those killed by an Apache helicopter.

Saint Motel Plans Judgment Day Concert at The Roxy

Los Angeles band and Sunset Strip favorites Saint Motel are planning a Judgment Day concert at The Roxy for May 21, 2011… the date that being proclaimed by a group called Family Radio on billboards across the country. And it looks like members of the group will be attending. As previously reported, the billboards have even appeared in and around West Hollywood. The billboard company offered to remove one sign located in the gay area after City Councilmember Jeff Prang made them aware that the group believes that “gay pride” is one sign of end times.

Odd Behavior and Traffic Collisions as Bars Close in Weho

West Hollywood saw numerous traffic collisions as the bars closed after Saturday night festivities this weekend. A pedestrian was hit by a possibly drunk driver then asked for a ride. A car ran onto the sidewalk in another incident. Parents Complain about Risque Sunset Strip Billboards

West Hollywood Patch has started a new feature called “Parents Talk” and to kick things off, they’ve posed the question, “Are Weho Billboards Too Risqué for Children?” Listed as troubling examples are ads for Dexter showing a bloody baby, and a nude Absolute Hunk. The short post encourages people to have a conversation about the issue, and concludes by saying, “Given that West Hollywood’s demographic has changed dramatically in recent years and now includes increasing numbers of families with young children, perhaps it is time to open up a debate on whether these images should be so readily visible to all.” But is that shift in demographics really true? L.A. Weekly points out census data showing a massive drop in the number of youth.

Woman Bilked of over $200,000 by Psychic Met in Weho

A woman was to be arraigned today for stealing over $200,000 from an Irvine victim by claiming to be a psychic working to rid the victim of a curse inherited while in her mother’s womb. Lisa Debbie Adams, 35, Los Angeles, is charged with 32 felony counts of second degree commercial burglary, two felony counts of credit fraud, one felony count of grand theft, and one felony count of dissuading a witness with sentencing enhancements for aggravated white collar crime over $100,000 and property loss over $200,000. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 30 years and four months in state prison. Adams is being held on $250,000 bail and must prove the money is from a legal and legitimate source before posting bond. She was expected to be arraigned today at the Central Jail in Santa Ana.
