On June 17, 2012, at approximately 2:00 am, deputies responded the Sunset Strip on a report of a man with a gun and possible gunfire.

Arriving deputies quickly determined that a robbery had occurred at Gil Turner’s liquor store, located at 9101 Sunset Boulevard, in the City of West Hollywood.

They soon fanned out across the area looking for suspects while a deputy interviewed witnesses for more information.

The interviews revealed that a male Hispanic suspect wearing a blonde wig, ran into the store, produced a handgun and demanded cash. The suspect fled from the location in a white Ford SUV, driven by a female Hispanic suspect.

Responding deputies began a search of the area to locate the suspects. A vehicle matching the description given by the witnesses was stopped at Fairfax Avenue and Fountain Avenue. A field show-up was conducted and the witnesses positively identified the suspects as those who were involved. Deputies recovered the stolen money along with a handgun.

Only about $150 was reportedly taken from the location.

The suspects were identified as 33-year-old Daniel Garcia and Veronica Velasco, age 40. They were arrested for robbery and for being ex-felons in possession of a firearm.
