On January 25, 2012, at 2:25pm, a man was walking near Crescent Heights and Fountain Ave when he was assaulted by a male who attempted to stab him with a knife. The lone suspect was described as possibly a black male with a light complexion, transient in appearance and about 35-45 years of age. The suspect made derogatory remarks to the victim regarding his sexual orientation.

On February 1, 2012, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Bulletin was circulated depicting a color photograph of a male wanted for questioning with regards to the assault. The picture depicted a male with a distinctive mustache, facial hair, sunglasses, and a Harley Davidson ball cap.

Yesterday, at approximately 7:08 am, a West Hollywood Sergeant on patrol observed a male matching the description of the suspect, walking away from the 7-11 store located at La Cienega Boulevard and Holloway Drive. As the Sergeant approached the suspect, the male quickly walked into a parking structure. Responding units were able to locate the suspect and he was subsequently detained.

The male resembled the wanted suspect with his mustache, facial hair, Harley Davidson ball cap, and sunglasses. His identity was confirmed to be the wanted man, identified as Frazier Lee Vedin, male white, 51 years of age.

During an interview, the suspect admitted being involved in the altercation with the victim. Based on this information, detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney at Beverly Hills Court. They will also seek charges of making terrorist threats and committing a hate crime.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information please contact Detective Greg Boagni at the West Hollywood Station 310-855-8850.
