Weho Daily reported on Twitter Friday night about an LAPD officer requesting backup to Park La Brea for an apparent suicide. Local media reported a short time later that the incident was actually a suicide and attempted murder.
Los Angeles Police responded to the residence to meet family members who were outside fearing that the man was suicidal.
They made entry to the apartment on Orange Grove and found the man hanging and requested fire and rescue to the location to see if he could be revived. At that point, he was not conscious or breathing. No mention of the woman was made when responding officers initially requested medical help to the scene.
According to KTLA, while the officers were inside the apartment they heard a woman calling for help from a bathroom. She had been injured and was rushed to the hospital for treatment of head trauma. She is expected to survive.
The man and woman were married, and the man was said to be in his 30′s and woman in her late 20′s.
