PICK OF THE WEEK: Tonight come pay your respects to one of the legends of The Sunset Strip, Jani Lane of Warrant. Join rock n’ roll peers Great White, Quiet Riot, LA Guns, Enuff Z Nuff and Slammin’ Gladys at the Key Club, as they remember their friend, fellow musician and founding member of one of the marquee acts that helped define The Strip. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is free, but you must pick up a ticket from the box office today for entrance.

Escape the heat on Tuesday, August 30, during Isla Cantina’s three-hour happy hour from 4-7 p.m. All drinks will be two for one prices, so both you and your wallet will be happy. Continue the happiness at The Comedy Store with Late Night Rumble, billed as the “weird and wonderful world of late nights…crude, obscene, vulgar, hilarious.” Enjoy a remarkably obscene $5 entry and $5 Stone IPA all night! This Tuesday’s show features Nick Youssef, Mo Mandel, Fahim Anwar, Sam Tripoli and Don Barris. Midnight – 2 a.m.

Say goodbye to August on Wednesday, August 31 while enjoying cool music with poolside views at Desert Nights at The Standard, Hollywood. Catch performances by Omar Velasco, JK Mabry and Chris Laterzo in the Cactus Lounge with a cocktail in hand. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Thursday, September 1 explore The Sunset Strip’s newest establishment, Rosa Mexicano. Sample award-winning “elevated Mexican cuisine,” as well as an unparallel selection of top shelf tequilas amidst a gorgeous lounge like ambiance, complete with waterfall features and beautiful gradients of color.  Rosa Mexicano is located at 8570 Sunset Boulevard. Open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

How exactly does one do “the safety dance?” Find out this Friday, September 2 when the world famous Viper Room presents ’80s new wave, one-hit wonders Men Without Hats. That’s right, get your flashback fill of all the hits of your youth as you fondly reminisce about snazzy times in stirrup stretch pants. Also don’t miss the return of psychedelic desert rockers Gram Rabbit. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 advance/$20 day of show.

See what the fairer sex has to offer when the Whisky A Go-Go presents their Women’s Rock Show on Saturday, September 3. This time around check out performances by Nikki Lorenzo, Jagged Row, Lindy LaFontaine and Halocene. Please contact the Whisky for times and tickets.

Sunday, September 4 Can of Jam, KROQ, and Converse present Of Verona at the Viper Room. Kicking off a month long residency, these electo-pop locals have been taking the L.A. scene by storm with their catchy yet thought provoking trip-rock. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $15 at the door.
