MySpace music queen Metal Sanaz returns with her monthly showcase, Metal Scene, on Wednesday, August 3. Bringing you yet another handpicked bill of loud, local fare, this month’s show is set to feature Deceive The Dead, Fracture, Flood, Lie or Liar, Beringia and The Science Involved. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10.

Thursday, August 4 Key Club presents Jesse Malin and the St. Marks Social performing The Fine Art of Self Destruction. That’s right, the voice of notorious NYC glam punk band D Generation returns to perform his epic first solo album in its entirety. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $12-$14. This show is ages 18 and older.

One of the founding members of So Cal trip-rock innovators the Eels, and half of indie outfit Glacier Hiking, multi-instrumentalist/producer Tommy Walter returns to the world famous Viper Room this Friday, August 5 to showcase his own solo creative endeavor, Abandonded Pools. Educate yourself and get to this hub of musical genius. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 advance/$12 day of show.

PICK OF THE WEEK: Return to the Viper Room on Saturday, August 6 to celebrate notorious promoter, and new in-house VR talent buyer, Dayle Gloria’s Big Birthday Bash. This night of epic rock proportions is set to feature The Michael Des Barres Band featuring Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), Jimmy Wood plus a bevy of other surprise celebrity guests. Sunday, August 7 head to Book Soup where infamous video vixen and “scandal on heels” Karrine Steffans will be signing copies of her new “instructional manual” SatisFaction: Erotic Fantasies for the Advanced & Adventurous Couple. Taking sex-ed to orgasmic new heights, Steffans’ book educates readers on taboo topics such as defilement, domination and self-pleasure. With topics like these in her repertoire, the discussion alone will be worth the trip! Signing begins at 4 p.m.
