Los Angeles Police Department officers set up a crime scene today at a Hollywood Blvd. synagogue following a fire and report of a burglary at around 8:30AM.

The occurred at Temple Israel of Hollywood in the 7300 block of Hollywood Blvd. Fox LA reported that the police and fire department were called to the scene early this morning and that there were signs of forced entry on one end of the building near some classrooms.

Readers report that the ATF and FBI were on the scene. The ATF investigates incidents such as this at religious facilities.

Police say there was no immediate danger at or around the scene and that law enforcement officers are only conducting an investigation at this point. The building was cleared of occupants to preserve the crime scene.

LAPD put out a suspect description and called the incident an “attempted arson” with it. The suspect was described as a white male, 5’11″ in height, about 180 pounds and 27 to 28 years old. He had a short groomed beard, was carrying a green backpack or duffel bag, and was wearing a dark colored beanie, dark colored t-shirt and dark jeans.

The Los Angeles Fire Department has released security camera video footage asking the public for assistance in identifying the suspect (see below).
