The Avenues, Art, Fashion & Design District, a premier West Hollywood shopping destination, will hold the 14th Annual Art & Design Walk on Friday, March 25th from 9am to 6pm and Saturday, March 26th from 3pm to 7pm. Along with presenting sponsor Jaguar and local media sponsor Angeleno Magazine, The Avenues is pleased to offer 13 art and design programs, panels, and events targeted to the art and design professional during Friday’s schedule, entitled, Art & Design Walk: A Day for the Trade.

Foodies, fashionistas and art enthusiasts alike will appreciate the Saturday events that are FREE and open to the public. In all, the weekend will feature over 75 events, including exclusive receptions, personal appearances, food and entertainment, shopping discounts, and more.

The Friday schedule, for which RSVP is required, is geared towards the art and design trade community, will feature hour-long programs hosted by a select group of showrooms, including Jasper, Custom Comfort Mattress, Snaidero, Robert Kuo, Waterworks, Fendi Casa, Decorative Carpets, J. Robert Scott, Cassina, Phyllis Morris, Toto USA, Baltus, Minotti, and Poliform.

“The Art & Design Walk prides itself on presenting the best in programming for both design trade professionals and for design lovers of all levels and ages,” said Ryan Farber, Executive Director of The Avenues. “This year will be no exception. Friday’s schedule will feature several innovative and exciting classes and panels to keep the design community up to date on news and trends in the industry, and Saturday is packed with fun events for the whole family.”

Friday’s showroom events include:

  • Media sponsor Angeleno will present: Can a House Make You Happy? at Minotti – a discussion between interior designers and members of the growing field of happy research on how environment directly affects our mood, health and happiness, with a reception following.
  • Jasper, the new showroom from famed designer Michael Smith, will host a talk by Brian Gracie, Chairman of Gracie Inc. – a history of scenic wallpapers with an overview of the new directions Gracie is taking this antique craft. Jasper also will host a talk by Elizabeth Dow on historic color palettes, surfaces and the craft of hand painted techniques that parallel and influence the contemporary wall covering surfaces she creates today.
  • Custom Comfort Mattress is hosting a personal appearance “meet & greet” with Jeff Lewis and Zoila Chavez from the “Flipping Out” reality TV program on Friday from 10:30am – 12:30pm.
  • Snaidero will host a cooking demonstration – The Art of Italian Cooking: Creating World Class Cuisine with Innovative Kitchen Design and Appliances. Chef Cathy Dyla will demonstrate in Snaidero USA’s sleek and stylish showroom how to create delicious-tasting meals using the latest in kitchen appliances.
  • Waterworks will present “Specifying The Perfect Bath,” a learning lunch that guides you through designing and specifying customized bathing environments.
  • Decorative Carpets will offer a talk with Commune, a design collective, and Gerard O’Brien of Reform Gallery about the California artisan.
  • J. Robert Scott will hold a book signing with Cathy Whitlock, an interior designer, journalist, and the author of Re-de-sign.
  • Cassina will host an Interior Design Blogger Panel with Christian May from Maison 21, Megan Arquette of Beach Bungalow 8, Ashlina Kaposta of The Decorista, Gregory Han of Apartment Therapy Unplggd, and Laura Pardini of My LA Lifestyle, as well as a “Back to Retro” themed after party.
  • Phyllis Morris will feature a panel discussion entitled The Art of Collaboration: New Dynamics in the Worlds of Art and Design, moderated by David Keeps, LA correspondent at Travel + Leisure, Host of Art & the City and The Scenic Route at Ovation TV, and reporter at Los Angeles Times.
  • Toto USA will host the Mid-Afternoon Mingle at the Aquia Launch -a duo celebration.
  • Baltus hosts a talk entitled “Spaces Speak: the Fourth Voice,” covering the tendency of space; getting out of the way, culling inspiration; feng-shui and the psychology of good design; sharpening the tools for listening and more.
