Interesting & Strange, LGBTQ

Judgment Day billboard in West Hollywood (photo: Bradley Jacobson)

A few weeks ago, we were tipped off by reader Bradley Jacobson to an odd billboard seen placed on Santa Monica Blvd near the gay bars that proclaims that “Judgment Day is Coming on May 21, 2011.”

Another blogger, at Izzoiz.com, also spotted the sign. “I snapped a picture of it because I knew it could not be a ‘pro-gay’ advertisement,” the site writes.

At least one other billboard has been spotted sporting the message around Beverly and La Brea, according to a sighting overheard on Twitter. (If you happen to have seen these billboards elsewhere, please post a comment with info!)

Izzoiz.com did a little further research into the message by visiting the website listed, reporting…

When you go to the site, [a link named] “Gay Pride A Sign Of The End” is on the left side. Scroll down and you read what this lunatic, crack pot spews about the gays. Most notably that Gay Pride is the biggest reason for the end of the world coming apparently on 05/21/11…

“I am beyond disgusted that the billboard company would allow such bigotry to be displayed like that in the center of a gay community,” writes Izzoiz in their post.

I believe that we have grown as a world, enough to accept the concept of homosexuality. I dont believe that whomever is gay, proud of being gay and who they are as a homosexual, is the cause of the prophecy. I believe that over the thousands of years, we aren’t shutting the Bible out, but wether it be rebellion, or just sin. We ignore the message that had been written so long ago about homosexuality, I’m 17 years old, and I am an out and proud lesbian. If you havent read the “Gay pride: A sign of the end” crap on familyradio.com, you need to. Its a sign of how ignorant society is. If someone is gay, let them be. If you believe its wrong for a man to love a man, or a woman to love a woman, DON’T BE GAY. I believe strongly in the Gay Pride movement, and hell if Judgement Day is comming, i would rather be with a woman i love, than a man i truly hate.

The CBS billboard is visual and bigotory blight.

We should arrange a BIG gathering outside of that billboard on May 21st with drag queens, sequins, leather daddies and dildoes — singing Kum-baya, and Hello, Dolly!

Just as Gays and Lesbians can put billboards, so can others. God bless this country and freedom of speech. Don’t be disgusted. Be proud of our constitution and the fact that everyone can have their say and be free to say it. Disgusting is if the billboard company didn’t allow it.

Thank you for publishing this. I discussed the situation with the advertising company who has agreed to take it down.

They carry signs and have a big RV with this on it, and they came to the University of Pittsburgh campus. Good times.
I wonder if there faith is shaken, after the day passes and their prediction is wrong, or if they’re only trying for new members.
