Following a near riot and fighting that broke out after a punk rock performance at the Key Club about a week ago, the West Hollywood Sheriff set out to beef up their policing on Saturday night to ensure that there was not a repeat performance this weekend around another punk show.
According to WeHo News, the Sheriff operation yielded 41 citations and 14 arrests. Many of the citations and arrests were related to alcohol… drinking in public, minors with alcohol, and being drunk in public.

The Sheriff told WeHo News that the Key Club, Sunset Strip Business District Security, and West Hollywood Parking Enforcement were all helpful to the operation. The security and parking enforcement officers assisted the Sheriff in spotting problematic behavior. The Key Club also hired four deputies to maintain order around the club.
Weho Daily is aware that the Sheriff also made their presence known before and after the performance with numerous patrol cars on scene. And we also heard about some folks who thought they could escape deputies on foot, though they didn’t make it very far.
WeHo News also reports that Jeffrey Aubel, the city’s code compliance department manager, intends to bring the Key Club before the Business License Commission at its next meeting. He will ask for a six-month suspension of its license as a result of the crowd acting out at the previous punk rock performance.

Wow that seems pretty harsh to me considering that there have been no other incedences like that. The Key Club brings in major money to the city of west hollywood and abc. You can’t drive away the very businesses that make the city of west Hollywood what it is. Because really all it takes is a few instigators to turn a scene like that. it can happen at any club or bar anywhere. it is not the Key Club.. Do they want to scare other bars into closure because they dont wanna be punished if one night a few drunk people instigate a scene??? Because remember any where you have crowds and alcohol you can get this. Why not close down some of the gay bars where fights break out almost nightly??? Planty of videos of multiple incedents online of the gay bar incedents? why do they not get closed down for 6 months? I live off a party street and you know what I cant complain when people are drunk yelling outside my windows all night because you know what??? I have the power to move if I really dislike it that much. Why live somewhere you hate??? Is west hollywood becoming Nazi Hollywoood??????

Yes, but how many gay club slap fights shut down all of Santa Monica Bl. for more than 2 hours? None! Alos, people who get into fights at clubs on Santa Monica Bl. dont throw anything at cops who show up…except maybe kisses, phone numbers….and gee strings.
