Some nearby West Hollywood neighbors to a large new development moving forward on La Cienega in the City of Los Angeles are upset with the size and scale of the proposed building, according to a report at Curbed LA.
The development Luxe@375 development would contain 125 apartments and is located at the intersection of La Cienega Blvd and Westmount Dr. The development would replace the Star Strip Theater strip club and the old Acapulco restaurant currently located there.
Construction on the project appears poised to quickly move forward due to backing by Los Angeles City Council member Paul Koretz, according to Curbed. They say that construction may start in April, according to the developer.
Among the numerous detractors showing up to speak out against the project at a Planning and Land Use Committee Meeting on Tuesday was Lauren Meister from the West Hollywood West Residents Association. She said that the project would overpower the neighboring single family homes in West Hollywood, especially as there is no alley to act as a buffer between the properties. “There’s no precedent for a project this size,” she added.
