The large Starbucks in the center of West Hollywood has reopened after a light remodeling job.  We snapped a few photos which you can see below.

The coffee shop, located at the corner of West Knoll Dr. and Santa Monica Blvd. has been a popular gathering place, along with a place to see and be seen, for a number of years.  It feels a bit more warm and inviting now, with lots of wood and faux-wood finishes on everything from tables to walls to the lamps hanging in the middle of the space.

Outdoors, the patio is now enclosed with a railing that is topped with a table surface, creating an outward facing bar that surely will be popular for people watching.  It also feels much more spacious.  There is built in furniture that will save on some of the labor required to put things away at night, and should help to keep things a bit more tidy and organized.

But it isn’t a complete transformation of the space.  Most things are generally located where they were before, and people who might be infrequent customers of the spot might not be able to put their finger on exactly what is different about it.

Corner of Santa Monica Blvd & Westmount, not West Knoll….

Seating is not comfortable, narrow, no arms – unlike all the other just remodeled Starbucks (the straight ones like Studio City on Ventura by Laurel Canyon)- are they trying to get rid of the gym boys who have socialized there since it opened? This is the seating trick used by McDonald’s to be comfy at first, then turn ugly on your body. Patio seating is squeezed together / claustrophobic.
