Cupcakes have been getting the most play in the talk about sweets in this town, though macarons have been starting to emerge as a hot dessert item.

West Hollywood’s Plaisir is bucking the trends and perhaps trying to start a new one…  with cream puffs.

The tiny dimension and airiness makes it a favorite guilty pleasure for a calorie-conscious crowd, says Mondette, which has an in depth look with mouth watering photos of chef Philippe Dray’s creations.

“I didn’t want to jump on the macaron-wagon,” he explains. Being French, it would have been an obvious choice, but this sweets-aficionado likes to be one step ahead of the rest.
