Curbed LA had a reader write in lamenting “the removal of those magnificent, majestic 70-80′ tall palm trees lining the western end of the strip… They were replaced with little wispy stick trees that look like it could be any street in Ohio or Kansas. Anyone know what the thinking was behind this crime?”

Can anyone confirm that they were removed? Were they moved temporarily while the construction goes on, or replanted elsewhere on the Strip?  Based on the letter of the Curbed reader, they claim that they were replaced with a different type of tree.  Hmmm.
