Dear Weho Parking Office: Where Are My Permits?

Welcome to the debut of a new feature at Weho Daily: THIS IS BROKEN.  We’ll take issues you report (and sometimes things we find ourselves) and report on them to raise awareness of what is broken around West Hollywood.  And just maybe we’ll get some things fixed in the process.  If you have an suggestion on something to cover, just drop us a note via the Contact Us link on our pages.

To get the ball rolling, Weho Daily wants to know…. is there anyone else in West Hollywood who seems to have trouble getting their parking permits renewed?

Weho Daily had trouble last year.  Despite sending in the renewal well in advance, the permits never came.  A check with the parking office resulted in being told that they were in the mail.  Still they didn’t come.  So they resent them.  And they still didn’t come.  Eventually, with some legwork with Weho’s parking office, and multiple trips and phone calls to City Hall, they got us set up to pick them up in person.

It left the residents in our household wondering what the problem was — we seem to get our other mail, including parking tickets, without any issues.  And we were left wondering if the glitch was actually resolved.

The answer came in the last month or two as we’ve encountered the same problem all over again.  And it still hasn’t been resolved.  We’re on our third set of temporary 10 day passes trying to get by, waiting for our permanent annual passes.

Is anyone else having problems like this?  Please post your experiences in the comment section below and help us get to the bottom of this.  Is it our address that is cursed, or is the problem more widespread?

  1. I have lived in the 5R section for 9 years now, and I have never had a problem. Have always gotten my notices well in advance, and have received my passes in the mail within a few days of mailing in my check. (Since they have switched to the via mail system that is.)
