Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel just sentenced Lindsay Lohan to 90 days in jail, followed by 90 days of inpatient rehab.  She may still be on probation following this, and possibly a formal probation where she has to check in with a probation officer.

The judge led up to the ruling by saying several times that it was extremely clear that the prosecution would be seeking jail time if she did not comply with the terms of probation.

The judge stressed the point that she was asking for absolute compliance, not substantial compliance or anything else.  She stressed her belief that Lindsay’s attorney most certainly must have told her how serious the situation was.

“I couldn’t have been more clear,” said Judge Revel about the terms of Lohan’s probation. “She did not comply with the court’s orders and the court does find her in violation of her probation.”

“It’s like someone who cheats but doesn’t think it’s cheating if they don’t get caught,” Revel later added.

Lindsay broke down in tears after hearing that she would be serving time, looking to her attorney as if in disbelief that it was actually happening, and that nothing was being done to save her.

Before Judge Revel sentenced Lohan, the actress spoke to the court, telling the judge, “As far as I knew I was being in compliance with my program. When I asked to leave town, [Right on Program] would give me permission. I wasn’t expecting any special treatment aside from the fact that I have to work, I have to provide for myself…I did the best I could to balance jobs and showing up.”

Lohan then broke down in tears, pausing briefly before adding, “I wasn’t missing the classes to hang out…I was working….It wasn’t some sort of a joke. I was taking it seriously.”

She added, “I’m not taking this as a joke. It’s my life and it’s my career…I’ve tried to do the best I can in the past few weeks since I’ve been here last…Honestly, it did wake me up. Yes, of course it scared me…It’s just been such a long haul and I don’t want you to think that I don’t respect you and your terms.”

Her father and his lawyer appeared at a news conference moments ago and seem to be under the illusion that the jail time might still be avoided if she checks into rehab on her own during the next two weeks.

That seems highly unlikely, however.

Lindsay rushed out of the courthouse into a waiting vehicle and most likely is not going to be making a comment at the bank of waiting microphones.

A Sheriff’s spokesperson is now saying that it is possible that she will only serve 25% of the time. She will likely be in a “keep away” situation, away from the general prisoner population, both for her own safety and for the security of the jail as a whole.  She will be housed at the Century Regional Detainment Facility in Lynwood unless the judge says differently.

The day was a nightmare for Lohan. Morning proceedings didn’t seem to be going very well for Lohan, nor did her ride up the elevator to the courtroom where she freaked out when served with a lawsuit by a West Hollywood boutique. It seems like a few hail mary plays didn’t pan out, trying to keep the rehab facility staff off the stand, and documents about her attendance at the program out of the hands of the judge and prosecution.
