TMZ just posted information about a newly surfaced video where Phil Spector talks about the night in 2003 that left a House of Blues Foundation Room hostess, Lana Clarkson, dead at his Alhambra home. He was convicted of the murder in 2009. (Scroll down to watch video.)

Spector was a record producer and songwriter. He produced over 25 Top 40 hits between 1960 and 1965. Later in his career he worked with artists including Ike and Tina Turner, John Lennon, George Harrison, and the Ramones.

Spector met Clarkson the same night of her death, after having dinner at “the grill” and then stopping by Dan Tana’s down on Santa Monica Blvd. Just minutes before last call, Spector showed up at the House of Blues on teh Sunset Strip in his limo.

His eventual victim, working the door of the club, mistook him for a woman at first because of his wild hair and different appearance. Not knowing who he was, she denied him entry to the exclusive membership area at the club.  Another employee stepped in to clear things up and he came inside.

Spector eventually left with the hostess back to his Alhambra estate, where she died as a result of a gunshot wound. Spector’s defense was that it was a self inflicted wound.

In this video, Spector rants on and on about the Alhambra Police showing up at his door instead of paramedics that might have saved her life. He talks about a 45 minute negotiation he had with them at the door when he says nobody knows if she was still alive and could have been saved.

It is standard procedure among emergency personnel, however, for police to first enter and clear any location that might not be safe and secure for paramedics, fire, or other personnel. He doesn’t explain why it was necessary for him to negotiate with the police for 45 minutes about cooperating with them so they could do that.
