It’s such a shame to even have to think or write about this, but controversial blogger Perez Hilton became an issue on the first ever Harvey Milk Day, and there may be more controversy around Perez to come leading up to gay pride.

Dustin Lance Black holds up his Oscar for Best Screenplay at the 81st Academy Awards February 22, 2009
The organization Equality California (EQCA) held a Harvey Milk Day event yesterday at the home of Sharon and Kelly Osborne, who are also slated to be the celebrity grand marshals for this years gay pride parade.
A highlight of the event was to be a speech by Dustin Lance Black, Oscar winning screenwriter of the motion picture MILK, based on the life of Harvey Milk. In fact, Black played a significant role in lobbying for the creation of Milk Day itself.
But then…. Perez Hilton.
Most people in town love Sharon Osbourne and her daughter Kelly, not to mention the rest of her family. The City of West Hollywood even made September 10 of last year “Ozzy Osbourne Day” here in Weho. But the same cannot be said for Kelly Osbourne’s friend, Perez Hilton.
It especially isn’t the case between Dustin Lance Black and Perez Hilton, at least since Hilton posted private sexual photos of the screenwriter on his website.
What happened next isn’t entirely clear. Queerty reported that Dustin Lance Black was disinvited from the event since Perez was going to be there. EQCA, on the other hand, issued a statement saying they would never disinvite someone, and said that they had simply informed him that Perez was also invited, and he apparently decided not to attend on his own.
For his part, Black told Queerty he still had a speech to deliver — and instead of giving it at the Osbournes’ party, he did it later Saturday night at Madame Tussaud on Hollywood Boulevard. “For me, this is such a great day, I’m going to focus on the other stuff going on tonight,” Black said.
In the end, Perez didn’t attend the party either. Perhaps he caught wind of the storm brewing and decided to lay low, or was disinvited himself.
It all just leaves Weho Daily feeling disgusted and dirty.
