Weho Daily was excited to learn that The Roxy and Hustler brought some of the fashionable food trucks to The Sunset Strip.

Tonight they have Calbi BBQ, Ragin Cajun Cafe and the South Philly Experience.

Of course, I ran right over. While there, I tasted some chicken and sausage bisque from Ragin Cajun Cafe’s truck and it was amazing.

But what really got me out of my chair tonight was the prospect of an authentic “steak” (aka cheese steak sandwich, though they don’t call them by their full name in Philly).  I went to school in Philly and had a steady diet of “steaks” and it is rare to find anything that resembles them outside of Pennsylvania.

One of the keys to an authentic Philly cheese steak is the bread, from the Amoroso bakery. And the South Philly Experience truck has them!

“The biggest reason that the best Cheesesteaks come from the Philly area is the ability to make a great roll,” says the site HowToRateACheesesteak.com. “Amoroso has set the benchmark for the ultimate roll. This is unquestionably the single most vital part of the sandwich.”

So if you are in the mood for some good food, or some good drinkin’ food, head on up to the Sunset Strip tonight.  The trucks will be there late, and you’ll find them on Sunset Blvd near Hammond.

Kudos to Nic Adler from The Roxy as I know that he has worked hard to get the city to allow them in West Hollywood. (Note that I doubt there is an open door policy for all trucks to stop in Weho yet, but I don’t have more info.)

Though I’m kind of cautious about embracing food trucks wholeheartedly in the city, I do see why they could be an asset to the area around the music venues on the strip.  It’s pretty dead around there as far as dining options.

As long as they don’t discourage storefront business in existing or potential new restaurants, you can count me as a fan.

Great, the roach coaches are here. Nexy we’ll have unlicensed food vendors going up and down the side streets ringing their bells.
