via Councilmember Jeffrey Prang’s Newsletter:
Jewish Family Service (JFS) has informed the City that Adult Day Healthcare Services (ADHC) are slated to be eliminated effective March 1, 2010, as part of the continued State program reductions proposed by the Governor. The City provides only 8% of the annual operating budget of $800,000.
ADHC is one of two programs housed at the center, the other being the Alzheimer’s Day Care Center. There are twenty-three West Hollywood community members currently enrolled in the programs, from a total enrollment of eighty.
If they are forced to close the ADHC program, most West Hollywood residents will be able to receive some in-home care through other programs. In fact, JFS has already enrolled some people in other services in anticipation of these pending changes.
Due to union contract requirements, JFS will need to notify staff members of the possibility of changes in work assignments and/or layoffs if the program closes.
